[Manufacturing] Johnson Controls Receives Nissan Quality Awards MILWAUKEE - Johnson Controls was honored with three 1999 Nissan Superior Quality Awards for the original equipment batteries it supplies to the automaker.For the fifth consecutive year, Johnson Controls received Nissan's highest recognition-the Quality Achievement Award. Only six of the 250 suppliers to Nissan achieved this status. The Quality Achievement Award winners represent a superior level of excellence in engineering, manufacturing, product quality, inventory control, and cost while continuing to improve to meet Nissan's needs and expectations. Johnson Controls also received the Nissan Quality Master's Award for the 14th consecutive year, and for the ninth year, Nissan's Zero Defects Award. Johnson Controls supplies original equipment automotive batteries to Nissan under the Nissan brand name from its battery plant in Toledo, Ohio. Nissan representatives were on site at the Toledo facility to present the awards yesterday. "We consider these awards to be a barometer of our performance with Nissan. They are a tangible example of our mutual commitment to excellence and we are proud to be associated with a blue chip company such as Nissan," said Doug Brown, vice president sales. (Feb. 9, 2000)
