Visteon Builds Engineering Expertise in Asia Pacific Region With Purchase of Naldec and Visteon Expands Role As Leading Global Cockpit Supplier With New Partnership In South Korea

Dearborn, Mich. - Visteon Automotive Systems continues to build an expert portfolio of international engineering and production capability with the purchase of Naldec Corporation in Hiroshima, Japan.

Naldec engineers and manufactures advanced electronic body and safety vehicle modules. Acquisition of the corporation allows Visteon to establish a manufacturing and technical base in Japan that will be leveraged throughout the Asia Pacific Region.Visteon purchased 100 percent of Naldec from Mazda Motor Corporation for an undisclosed sum. Currently, the majority of Naldec's sales are to Mazda. Naldec's manufacturing plant in Hiroshima produces approximately 4 million air bag, antilock brake, keyless entry, speed control and other electrical modules annually. The corporation employs approximately 220 people, including about 70 engineers.

 

In response to growing demand for its world-class systems integration capabilities, Visteon Automotive Systems is forming a new partnership with Duck Yang Industry Co., Ltd., the largest supplier of instrument panels in South Korea.

The acquisition of a controlling interest in Duck Yang will allow Visteon to further build its global cockpit systems business and increase its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Visteon is the largest cockpit supplier in the world. Duck Yang currently produces about 1.4 million instrument panels annually and is the sole instrument panel supplier to Hyundai Motor Corp. Duck Yang employs approximately 875 people in three manufacturing facilities in South Korea. It was incorporated in 1977 and is listed on the Korean stock exchange.

 

Accelerated Technology Announces Nucleus OSEK /
Launching into the Automotive Industry of the Future

MOBILE, Ala. - Accelerated Technology, Inc., the leader of source code and non-royalty based Real-Time Operating System products, announces Nucleus OSEK, Accelerated Technology's full-featured implementation of the OSEK/VDX operating system, including support for all four conformance classes. The term OSEK means "Offene Systeme und deren Schnittstellen fur die Elektronik im Kraftfahrzeug" (Open systems and the corresponding interfaces for automotive electronics). The term VDX means "Vehicle Distributed eXecutive."

The goal of OSEK is to create an industry standard for an open architecture for electronic control units in vehicles. Because of the company's business model of offering source code without royalty fees, Nucleus OSEK provides the automotive industry with a number of advantages including clear cost savings, decreased development time, and enhanced quality. Nucleus OSEK is configurable and scalable, allowing embedded computing resources to be used more efficiently. Also, Nucleus OSEK is extremely portable since most of it is written in ANSI C.

OSEK/VDX is an emerging automotive industry standard for in-vehicle real-time operating systems (RTOS). Accelerated Technology has a successful record in this industry with satisfied customers like Chrysler, Ford and Visteon with its standard kernel Nucleus PLUS.
