Nov. 12, 1999 - While as a policy General Motors Corp. does not publicly discuss its long-term future product plans, recent reports of the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird's pending demise are inaccurate.

GM has stated previously that the company is committed to continue operation of the Ste. Therese, Quebec, plant through the term of the current Canadian Auto

Workers contract that expires in fall 2002.

At this time, no product has been assigned to the plant after that date, but GM continues to study possible options. Nothing has changed concerning GM's production plans for the Camaro and Firebird.

In fact, special editions of the Camaro and Firebird are in development for the 2002 model year.

TH!NK CITY: New Name Plugged In For Urban Car
.
Aurskog, NORWAY - Nov. 12, 1999 - Norway's first mass-produced vehicle will have a new name as production vehicles today begin rolling off the line. "TH!NK City" is the new nameplate for the battery-powered electric vehicle that has been specially created for fleet and individual customers looking for urban transportation solutions.

"TH!NK City is compact, easy to maneuver, and it fits well into tight parking spaces and congested roads alike - without producing any emissions," said Per A. Lilleng, president of TH!NK Nordic AS. "This is an ideal city car - and we want to make sure people start thinking about that as soon as they hear the name." Pre-production versions of the car had been called TH!NK, an offshoot of its manufacturer TH!NK Nordic AS, which is an enterprise of Ford Motor Company. The company today begins producing salable units at its factory approximately 60 kilometres outside of Oslo. TH!NK City is a purpose-built two-seater, powered by a liquid-cooled three-phase alternating current-induction motor. This zero-emissions city runabout boasts a 0 to 50 kph time of 7 seconds and a top speed of 90 kph.

The motor is fuelled by electricity generated by TH!NK City's nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries. Nineteen NiCd modules, which also are water-cooled for maximum performance, generate roughly 11.5 kilowatt hours of energy.
