| However, Silverado was not the only truck success story for Chevrolet last
month. The increasingly popular all-new Tracker accounted for 4,219 sales in May, an
increase of nearly 2,000 units over May of 1998 (2,243). Chevy's all- new Tracker
continues to garner high praise from media and consumers alike as evidenced by the 36
percent increase in sales over the same five months last year. "As always,
Silverado was an all-star for Chevrolet," stated Kurt Ritter, Chevrolet's general
marketing manager. "And, seeing how well the all-new Tracker is doing, we are very
excited about what this rugged sport utility vehicle can contribute to the growing small
SUV segment."
Once again, the Chevrolet Cavalier led the charge for the division's car sales.
Cavalier sold 24,738 units in May, giving it 127,599 total sales for 1999. Through April
of this year, Cavalier is the best selling small car in America. It has achieved a 1.3
percent increase in sales over the January-May period last year. |
