HANDAR4.GIF.gif (182 Byte)   BMW will produce 2 Series
According to the German Journal "Auto-Bild", BMW will start production of a 2 Series in 2002. It will compete against Mercedes A-class and Audi A3.

The 2 Series will become a front driven car, the type of drive Rover is designing. Obviously, a front driven 2 Series would perfectly fit into the product portfolio of Rover and could serve as a nucleus for a platform concept common for Rover and BMW. In the beginning of the 90th, BMW engineers developed their first proposal for a front driven car. But it was not accepted by the board at that time.
