.
Toledo, Ohio, July 27, 1999 - Dana Corporation  has been selected to supply Volkswagen with the first hydraulic clutch actuation systems the OEM will use in its compact car models. Along with the hydraulic systems, Dana also will supply brake boosters, wheel cylinders, and brake hoses for Volkswagen's 2000 through 2003 compact car models.

This contract is worth $40 million in sales to Dana Corporation, which will manufacture these products and systems in its FTE automotive facilities in Germany, Mexico, and Brazil. FTE automotive, a division of Dana's Automotive Systems Group, is a worldwide market leader in brake and clutch systems.

In addition, FTE will supply a vacuum brake booster consisting of an aluminum master cylinder and aluminum booster. Volkswagen will utilize the FTE modules and systems for a number of its compact car models sold in Europe and Latin and South America, such as the Polo, Polo Classic, Skoda, Felicia, Gol, Parrati, and Saveiro.

Dana's Automotive Systems Group provides under-the-vehicle products and integrated modules and systems to customers anywhere in the world. The Automotive Systems Group consists of Spicer(R) axle products, Spicer(R) driveshaft products, Parish(R) structural products, Nakata(R) steering and suspension products, FTE(R) automotive brake and clutch systems, and a systems engineering integration and logistics unit.
